The spa consists of the open-air lake, the indoor Festetics Spa House offering treatments and wellness facilities. Hévíz has a two-thousand-year-old history of spa bathing, and the ancient Romans already mention the lake, where Roman coins have been found. In the 1770s, the Festetics family built the first bathhouse on rafts.
In the past centuries, the local people attributed the healing properties of the water to the black dandruff it contained.

The water of the Hévíz Spa has a unique composition: sulphurous, radon-containing medicinal water, biologically active water rich in organic substances, which is ideal for treating rheumatic diseases and musculoskeletal complaints.
