Historic model railway exhibition

Keszthely

The historic model railway exhibition is one of the largest in Europe. A giant model of the railways of Hungary, Austria and Germany from the 19th to the 21st century is a faithful replica of the original station buildings, tracks, locomotives and trains.

Over 2.7 kilometres of track, 503 m2 of floor space, 348 fully automated, decoder-controlled, servo-motor-driven sidings and more than 600 buildings, 75 different trainsets, made up of locomotives, passenger and freight wagons from the previous two centuries, run simultaneously on the H0 (1:87) scale. The station layout is based on aerial photographs and original plans. The presentation is rounded off with contemporary plans and technical descriptions of Hungary's most famous trains.
